Cane Bayou in Mandeville, La
A protected, largely natural coastal waterway on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, flowing between Fontainebleau State Park and Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge. This compact, mile-long journey packs an incredible variety of distinct habitats into a short distance, moving from pine flatwoods and ancient Indian shell middens through a marsh nursery and out to the sandy shores of the lake, where paddlers can wade in the water and catch views of the distant New Orleans skyline.
Manchac Wetlands near LaPlace, La
A vast, 200-square-foot forested swamp located northwest of New Orleans, bordered by Lake Maurepas and Lake Pontchartrain. Dominated by bald cypress trees, water tupelo, freshwater marshes, and a network of historic logging canals, this destination offers a wild, immersive experience deep in a true swamp ecosystem. It features dramatic seasonal changes—from vibrant spring greens to bare winter branches—and plenty of nighttime wildlife sounds, including barred owls and chorus frogs.

Cane Bayou: A concise, roughly one-mile stretch to the lake, making it exceptionally approachable and easy to navigate.
Manchac Wetlands: Vast and maze-like, offering an expansive sense of remoteness. Paddle distance varies by available timeframe
Surrounding Environment:
Cane Bayou: Sandwiched directly between two protected public conservation lands (Fontainebleau State Park and Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge). This is the last remaining bayou leading to Lake Pontchartrain that is protected on both sides.
Manchac Wetlands: Our paddle area is within a Wilderness Management area designed to be used by paddlers, fisherman and hunters alike.

Cane Bayou: Culminates at Lake Pontchartrain with a firm, sandy-bottomed mouth that is perfect for stepping out of boats to wade, swim, and view the distant New Orleans skyline on clear days.
Manchac Wetlands: Defined by quiet inland swamp channels, bayous, sloughs, and finger lakes.

Cane Bayou: Fairly similar Highlighted by abundant daytime birdwatching—including soaring ospreys, diving herons, egrets, and ibises—alongside rich marine life in the submerged aquatic vegetation.
Manchac Wetlands: Famous for its dramatic nighttime chorus of frogs, hooting barred owls, and glowing alligator eyes under a spotlight.

Are the bicycles required to be returned to the same location? Yes, kindly plan to return the bicycle(s) to the initial rental location.
What if the weather is bad? We never penalize you for bad weather. We have the most lenient refund policy in the industry. Check it out
During my rental period, am I permitted to secure my bicycle with a lock? Certainly. Our locks remain with your rental, and you have the autonomy to unlock or lock the bicycle as per your convenience during the rental.
Are the bicycles equipped with baskets? All adult bicycles are equipped with baskets and water bottle holders.
