Contingency plans for bad weather
We have made approximately 25 trips to Horn Island over the years. Bad weather has with one exception never prevented us from reaching or returning from the island on schedule. However, there is always a possibility that a strong north wind will cause us problems. If this occurs on the day we are to go out, then we will spend the day on the mainland and wait for the afternoon or evening. On the day of return, the weather could prevent us getting off the island on schedule. If necessary we would come back in the evening or early, early the next morning.
