Driving directions to the campgrounds in Ocean Springs and to the Schooner in Biloxi
For the schooner - The schooner is docked in Biloxi. Directions are to take I 10 to Biloxi, exit at the Biloxi exit (#46) and proceed 4.2 miles towards the Gulf on I 110. Once at US 90, cloverleaf down and take US 90 east 1.4 miles to the pier. Grand Casino can be seen to the east. Off of the highway, there is parking for a couple dozen cars. From Metairie to the schooner's dock in Biloxi, the distance is about 100 miles and the driving time is about an hour and forty minutes.

Contingency plans for bad weather
We have made approximately 25 trips to Horn Island over the years. Bad weather has never prevented us from reaching or returning from the island on schedule. However, there is always a possibility that a strong north wind will cause us problems. If this occurs on the day we are to go out, then we will spend the day on the mainland and wait for the afternoon or evening. On the day of return, the weather could prevent us getting off the island on schedule. If necessary we would come back in the evening or early, early the next morning.
